Poetry workshop: Freedom

When: 28th September 2017, 2pm to 5pm at Buxton Library.

Where: Buxton Library, Kents Bank Road, Buxton, SK17 9HW

  • Be it the mass trespass, the right to roam or a walk in the landscape, Derbyshire poet Judy Brown will help you explore what freedom means for local people and places in your own poetry and inspired by museum objects. Her second book, Crowd Sensations (2016), is a Poetry Book Society recommendation.

Print making workshop

When: 7th October 2017, 11am to 4pm 

Where: The Green Man Gallery, Hardwick Square South, Buxton, SK17 6PY

Entry / Cost: Free, but advance booking is essential using Eventbrite (opens in a new window). Participants must be 16 years old or over. All materials and equipment are provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

Please note that participants should be aware that this workshop will be held in a room on the first floor, accessible only by two flights of stairs.

  • Spend a day with artist Maria Strutz, drawing inspiration from fossils, flowers and forms displayed in the museum and then experimenting with techniques to make your own relief print.

Where: Arbor Low, near Monyash, DE45 1JS.

Entry / Cost: Free but advance booking is essential using Eventbrite (opens in a new window).

Please note that Arbor Low is on private land and there is a £1 per adult entrance fee.

  • Join Creeping Toad for winter stories as old as the hills in the glorious setting of Arbor Low henge monument. Bring an empty plastic bottle to make your own stone circle lantern. A hot drink will be provided on arrival and soup before departure.

Winter Solstice walk

When: 21st December 2017, 1am to 3pm at Arbor Low, near Monyash, DE45 1JS.

  • Enjoy a guided walk around the ‘Stonehenge of the north’ with archaeologist and interpreter Bill Bevan, and discover more about this amazing prehistoric landscape. Soup will be provided on arrival and a hot drink before departure.
