Many local residents as well as visitors to the area will remember the St Ann’s Hotel in The Crescent with fond memories and as part of the major redevelopment plan of the Grade I listed building, Buxton Crescent and Thermal Spa are holding a reunion for former staff and anyone who socialised or spent time here when it was open and until it’s closure in the late 1980s.
Did you work at the hotel? Do remember enjoying a drink in the hotel bar or go ‘courting’ here? If you held any position from the humblest to highest position, or, you enjoyed socialising or even got married or engaged here – what ever your story, everyone is welcome to come along to share with each other their fond memories of the St Ann’s Hotel.
Members of ‘Present From The Past’ project will be there on the day too – an oral history project capturing memories and creating an audio archive with sound bites and snap shots of Buxton, which will eventually be deposited at Buxton Museum & Art Gallery and be part of their new exhibition; people’s memories of the Crescent in bygone days and St Ann’s Hotel can play a key part in this project preserving the rich history of one of Buxton’s most iconic buildings.
‘Present From The Past’ project will also contribute in developing the heritage experience at the newly developed spa hotel.
An update on the Crescent project will also be given. Tea, coffee and refreshments will also be served.
Numbers are limited to around to around 40 so if you want wish to book a place, please email Liz Mackenzie, Engagement and Events Manager at Buxton Crescent and Thermal Spa at email@example.com
The event will run from 2.30pm – 4.30pm at the Old Hall Hotel, The Square, Buxton on 23rd March 2017.
