This year’s winter opening hours for Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens have been announced.
The building will close to the public after business on Christmas Eve and will re-open on 1 February in a similar arrangement to the same period this year.
Tourist information will continue to be available via an electronic touchscreen and leaflet kiosk in the Conservatory between 10am and 4pm from 26 December to 31 January. Information will also be provided by telephone and email between 10am
and 2pm from 2 to 31 January.
And, in response to comments received this year, both the lakeside kiosk and car park public toilets will be open from 10am to 4pm from 26 December to 31 January.
Councillor Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration and Tourism, said: “We wanted to announce the winter timetablat an early date so that people are aware and can plan accordingly.
“Like any responsible business, we have to ensure we are operating financially viable services so it makes sense to close the building during what is a traditionally quiet time of the year and I think people do understand that.
“We have listened to what people said to us when the Gardens was closed at the
beginning of this year and will therefore be keeping the lakeside kiosk and the public
toilets at the car park open throughout the period.
“We know how much local people and visitors value the Pavilion Gardens and we remain committed to ensuring it continues to be one of Buxton’s main attractions for generations to come which is why are investing £3m in a major refurbishment
