A special lunch is on offer for Mother’s Day, with a three-course menu for £24.95 per person. Main dishes include roast topside of beef, roasted chicken breast and wild mushroom tagliatelle. There’s also a special gift for mums on the day. You could always tie this up with a wander round Matlock Bath to and enjoy some fun of the seaside, except in Derbyshire – known for it’s candy floss, sticks of rock and slot machines; and on Sundays bikers who traditionally gather in Matlock Bath.

The Cavendish Hotel, Baslow

The Cavendish Hotel has beautiful views across the surrounding Peak District and the attractive Garden Room overlooking the Chatsworth Estate is lovely. Afternoon Tea here is perfect for a Mother’s Day treat. The Cavendish Hotel creates a slightly modern twist on this English tradition – it’s all beautifully presented (see above). The Heights of Abraham, Matlock

There’s a craft session in the craft tent where children can make mum / grandma / sister / aunty, a mothers day gift. A special Mother’s Day lunch will be served in the Vista Bar & Restaurant (please note they are now fully booked between 12.30pm – 1.30pm). Afternoon Tea in Peak District & Derbyshire

There’s a luxurious feel to the afternoon tea here and ideal for Mother’s Day. It’s well worth having a good look round the excellent shop while you’re there too. Traditional Afternoon Tea is from £21 per person. The selection of savouries such as salmon and asparagus tart and feta, pesto and pine nut vol-au-vent or sweet treats such as chocolate and pink grapefruit truffle and chocolate dipped strawberries, make this superb value for money and feels a little special.

Old Hall Hotel, Buxton

Mothers Day in Buxton 2018

The historic Old Hall Hotel in Buxton, dating back to the 1500s, are offering a special Mother’s Day traditional Sunday Lunch served in the elegant surroundings of their restaurant overlooking the Pavilion Gardens. The lunch is served from 12 noon until 2pm with 3-courses for £29.50 per adult, children under 14 years eat half price* and children under 7 years dine for free*. Alternatively, traditional afternoon tea is available; choose from Mary’s Afternoon Tea for £14.95pp or Sparkling Afternoon Tea for £19.50pp. While you’re here, weather dependent, you can always take a stroll around the pretty Pavilion Gardens and feed the ducks.

Hassop Station, Bakewell

Peak District cafe tea room

Hassop Station is roomy and very family friendly and accommodates children really well. So if there’s a group of you wanting to enjoy a Mother’s Day lunch, this could be ideal. A special menu will offer two courses for £22 or three courses for £27, including coffee and chocs. There are 2 sittings available. They’re fully licensed too if you fancy a tipple. Royal Crown Derby, 1750 Tea Room

As well as the visitor centre, where you can learn more about the world renowned fine bone china, the tea room is very pleasant and offers light lunches and afternoon tea. Afternoon Tea is £15 per person, which is very good value. The whole place does not open on Sundays so you could choose to go on the Saturday instead. It’s well worth a visit for something a little different and truly unique to Derbyshire’s heritage.

Eastlodge Hotel, Matlock

Enjoy pretty gardens which surround the hotel in Matlock. The special Mother’s Day menu welcomes guests with a pre-lunch drink then a three-course meal featuring a wide good range of dishes, including starters such as leek and potato soup and haddock fish cakes, main courses such as roast Derbyshire sirloin beef and traditional roast turkey and deserts such as warm treacle tart with vanilla ice cream and blackberries and “Eton Mess” meringue. Dining Out at Christmas in the Peak District

You could opt for a traditional Sunday roast, or, you could go for afternoon tea; with a slightly different take on this tradition, the afternoon tea includes miniature scones, a pork pie, carrot cake and chocolate brownie. All beautifully served on a miniature picnic table! You could always double up the afternoon tea with a walk down Tideswell Dale – the Spring flowers such as crocus and snowdrops should have appeared and the dale is a pleasant walk at any time of the year.
