Anyone for Tennis? Buxton Tennis Club holds Open Day as part of The Great British Tennis Weekend

Do you love watching Wimbledon and always fancied learning how to play?! Buxton Tennis Club is holding a special Open Day on Sunday 14th May from 9am to 3pm as part of The Great British Tennis Weekend, a nationwide initiative organised by the Lawn Tennis Association.

The LTA scheme is hoping to encourage people of all ages and abilities to play tennis, whether you never tried it before or you want to start playing again. Buxton Tennis Club, which has courts on Park Road, will be hosting free junior coaching there in the morning followed by family play and sessions for adult beginners – or players who may be a bit “rusty” –  in the afternoon.

Tennis Club chairman Steve Thompson explains: “In the afternoon we are offering adults the chance to give tennis a go or merely hit a ball with one of our members. As an added incentive, we are offering one month’s free membership to all participants. With Wimbledon round the corner, it is a great opportunity to join in the fun!”

Rackets and balls are provided and participation is free. Steve says: “It would help if players signed up in advance with Clubspark.lta.org.uk but they are more than welcome to just turn up on the day.”
