Among a raft of special festive events you’ll find foodie gifts, hand-crafted pressies and usually a bit of glühwein to help you get into that merry spirit as well as being held in some truly stunning locations too.


In the huge Bakewell Showground, there will be a large number of stalls and marquees as well as Live Reindeer, Santa with his Elves & Grotto, ice rink, evening firework displays, traditional Christmas cuisine , fairground , donkey rides, Authentic German Swing Grill & Pan House, live music & entertainers, Christmas choirs, craft & speciality food marquees, hot mulled wine & cider, gin bar, Prosecco and champagne Bar, birds of prey, hot roast chestnuts, British Christmas tree seller and more….

Over 40 stalls selling a huge variety of produce, much of it homemade and local. From cakes to artwork and Christmas pudding to local photography; there is something for everyone. This year they are being joined by Hathersage Choir singing carols and the Mayfielder’s Ceilidh band. During the day we will be selling raffle tickets with some fantastic prizes (draw at 4pm). All proceeds going to the Lindley Educational Trust Bursary FundThe Hollowford catering team will be running their ever popular cafe throughout the day too.

Now ranking as one of the top four East Midlands biggest and most popular Christmas events, Victorian Matlock’s Christmas Weekend is held on Derbyshire Dales District Council’s historic Hall Leys Park in the centre of Matlock. The weekend is renowned as a family focused event, packed with free entertainment and something to appeal to everyone, whatever their age. Coupled with all the colour and atmosphere from stalls, fairground rides, entertainment and fireworks that you would expect at this time of year.

Haddon Hall will be opening its doors again for a 2-day market, showcasing the wares of local artisans.

Destination Chesterfield.

Chesterfield is set to be bathed with a magical glow at our annual Christmas lights switch-on event on Sunday 20th November. The event gets underway with entertainment, stalls, games and rides in the market place and New Square. The Market Hall will also be open from 11am to 5pm on the day with selected traders open. The stage show gets underway at 3.30pm with Peak FM providing the action as some of your favourite presenters take to the stage offering opportunities for you to join in the fun. Stars from Aladdin, this year’s pantomime at the Pomegranate Theatre will perform on stage and will perform the Chesterfield Christmas Lights Switch on at 4.45pm with Chesterfield’s mayor and Peppa Pig.
