You’ll enjoy views of this magnificent 18th century mansion and beautiful parklands. There’s lots happening at Kedleston Hall in the run up to Christmas, from Christmas crafts and carolling to decked halls, winter walks and visits from Father Christmas and rooms will be decorated.

Chatsworth Christmas

Step into an enchanting winter wonderland this festive season as Chatsworth present the time-honoured classic, ‘The Nutcracker’. Join Clara’s adventures as she is swept away by her Nutcracker Prince…

Plus, explore the magic of The Nutcracker at Chatsworth on selected evenings for the month before Christmas, as they open the house until 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays from 24th November until 16th December. (Last entry at 7pm).

Haddon Hall Christmas

This year Haddon Hall will as usual be decorated throughout, with a broad programme of events over Christmas. Changes in art, literature and music influenced the late 15th to early 17th centuries, and will influence the theme around the hall. Don’t miss the candlelit tours, the house will no doubt look spectacular. The Haddon Restaurant and Haddon Marquee will open during Christmas too.

Hardwick Hall Christmas

Immerse yourself in the festive season with the ’12 days of Christmas’ presented in the Hall. Follow a family trail and explore the wider estate. See if you can spot their reindeers and even take a seat in their festive sleigh! The middle floor at Hardwick will be beautifully decorated for Christmas and the gift shop will have a collection of festive treats on offer where pick up those special gifts for friends and family. There are various events over the festive period for all ages – check their website for further details.

Tissington Hall Peak District

This Christmas, Alexandra Sitwell will be opening up the award-winning gardens, as well as her historic home, at Renishaw Hall in Derbyshire. With the new Café at Renishaw Hall serving a delicious festive menu, plus winter walks and guided tours of the hall, there will be plenty on offer to visitors this December. Public tours of the hall will be available at 1pm and 2.30pm throughout the Christmas opening period, pre-booking essential.

Lyme Park Christmas

There’s an array of events happening at Lyme Park in the run up to and during the period. Highlights include ‘A Country House Christmas’, where you can see some of Lyme’s beautiful rooms decorated for an Edwardian Christmas, inspired by Treasure on Earth, the story of Christmas at Lyme in 1906. Smell the garlands, feel the warming glow and see the beauty of a magical Christmas at Lyme. Delight as the Entrance Hall, Library, Grand Staircase, Saloon and Butlers’ Pantry are transformed, inspired by ‘Treasure on Earth’, a book written through the eyes of one of the Legh children. There’s also the Boxing Day Walk to blow off the Christmas over indulgence cobwebs and there’s Festive Afternoon Tea which sounds lovely.

Come along to Ilam Park to take part in festive outdoor activities – build a wooden reindeer, make bird food, toast giant marshmallows and make a pomander. There will be a winter BBQ and festive treats available in the tea-room. The grounds of Ilam really are some of the most beautiful in the area, located in Dovedale you can always take in some of the stunning scenery if you visit here. British sustainably grown Christmas trees are also on sale on various dates at Ilam Hall during November and December.
